Taxing Fat

The country of Denmark has started taxing their junk foods and "fat", so to say.  It is like so much percent for every sugar/fat amount of ounces.  This includes products such as milk, butter, candy, and meat.  For example, if you ordered a lean piece of meat at a restaurant, that would be taxed as well.  Right before this tax came into effect, everyone began stocking up on some of these items and caused a food shortage which when there is a shortage there is no saying how much more that item will cost.
Pros:  I guess you will influenced to eat healthier.
*Denmark is the healthiest European country with 7%-8% of their entire population that is considered obese compared to the U.S. where 1/3 of adults are obese and 17% of the youth population (not including young children)
Cons:  the actual tax (which really isn't that much when you calculate it)
BUT it's the idea of having the government regulating your life.

So, do you thing that U.S. could be heading this way (since something like this is already in effect in New York)?  And is this a good idea or a bad one??
