The line between being bullied and choice

On a more serious note, I have been conflicted with several events that have happened in the news as well as what we have been talking about in my education psychology class.  I was saddened to hear of the events in Ohio at the high school where a bullied student shot towards a table of kids at the school.  I cannot imagine how the victims (on both sides of the situation) as well as the spectators must feel.  That has to be one of the most traumatic experiences to go through.  So, as we can see the effects of being bullied are evident and it is not news that bullying hurts others and can lead them to do bad things to themselves and others.

However, I listen to KFYI 550 news daily and it bothered me that they, as well as other news, were turning this into a "it was his choice to shoot the gun" situation.  Nobody made him to that.  Which then I thought about it more and there is some truth to it.

So, I was conflicted with the idea of how far does the effects of bullying go and the choice of that individual come in?  We all choose to do the things that we do.  But we cannot argue that we are also influenced by the other things around us.

The bottom line is that there are so many factors to consider such as how long had the bullying gone on, the state of the student, inner struggles, outer struggles, and on and on that there is no answer to this.  As I have learned through my classes, there is no single answer to any solution and there are always going to be several different factors to consider.

My prayers go out to all of those students and their families.

Feliz Cumpleanos!!

Joel's birthday was yesterday!!!  Since we are always so busy with school and Joel with work as well, we actually had his birthday dinner the day before.  I made lasagna, at the birthday boys request, and as a big surprise...I made Mt. Dew Cupcakes!! Hence, the color of the letters.  If you don't know Joel is a Dew junkie and I thought it would be a good birthday gift to make these for him.  I found the recipe on pintrest and I must admit that they were actually pretty good.  I am not a very good cook or baker but I try really hard :(  So, the cupcakes were a success but the buttercream was sadly not :(  It was too runny and the food coloring actually got lighter as the buttercream chilled.  I definitely need work on making buttercream from scratch!

Here they are

I saw this recipe a long time ago and so had this planned for a while.  I wanted to try them out already!  lol.
But, my husband loved them and that is all that matters!

He is so cute~!  I also got him a gift card to Harbor Freight (he wasn't expecting that either but I knew he would love it!) but he didn't get that till his actual birthday :)
So, here is to my hubby's birthday!

I love you!

My Valentine Gift

So, I know this is kind of late but I did have to wait a week and a half after Valentine's day to get my gift!  My husband would do that! Lol.  It's okay though, I don't mind.

Joel took me to go see the men's ASU basketball team play against USC.  It is true that I do not care for any ASU teams but I do love basketball and so going was a great gift for me :)  Just being there, the lights, the noise, the band, the music, the crowd, oh I love it all! Reminds me of when I used to play :)

This is them warming up.

I always love the beginning of the games because they have all these cool effects with the lights and everything.

Thanks BABE!
P.S. ASU won
